The Big Peace is sold as a 90-day practical programme to help you find your “missing peace”.  I’m generally very wary of so-called self-help books that promise a foolproof guide to happiness, enlightenment, a bigger bank balance or whatever else you’re searching for, in x number of “easy” steps or within y period of time.  They virtually never deliver on their promises and one is often left feeling even more of a failure than ever for not having been able to successfully master the required steps.

This book is different.  Firstly, it’s a whole lot of fun, very down-to-earth and really practical.  Secondly, I found I could really identify with the author, as she didn’t adopt the usual know-it-all guru-stance, but rather came across as non-judgmental, compassionate and real.  I thoroughly enjoyed most of the exercises, such as, drawing thought bubbles, creating a wall of evidence, getting friends to e-mail me loving, supportive messages daily, becoming a “sleep-slut”, taking a “slow hour”, burning my house down etc, etc.  Every week has a different theme, such as, “How slow can you go”, “Who loves ya, baby” and “Are you willing to let it out?” and the daily exercises for each week contribute toward building understanding of the overall theme for the week.  The author provides easily understood scientific support for the claims she makes and the exercises bring together inputs from several well-known spiritual and philosophical disciplines and even self-help gurus.  But it’s always fun, light and easy to understand and apply. This might be the perfect easy-to-read foil for the sometimes quite serious material I present in The Ascension Papers.

I can wholeheartedly recommend this wonderful little book.  I felt happier and lighter after reading it – what more could one ask for?

As always - I feel books should, at least, be offered in e-book form. E-books are much kinder to the environment as they don't consume precious resources to produce and they also don't need to be transported. "Real" paper books are a wonderful luxury but offering an e-book version is good for those of us that will use that format. Sadly I cannot find an e-book version of this book on sale.
